چکیده

Abstract Introduction Insomnia is a global health problem. Zebrafish (Danio rerio) an ideal model for studying sleep disorder due to its diurnal cycle. Centella Asiatica (CA) thought have anti-insomnia effect, but mechanism not clearly understood. The aim of this study evaluate the effect CA on insomnia zebrafish larvae by observing parameters including inactive frequency and movement distance. Methods This experimental divided into five groups consisting control group, group with 24 hours light exposure 7 days, concentration 2.5, 5, 10 µg/mL. Observation larval was carried out 6, dpf (day post fertilization) during 30 minutes before after turning off exposure. Results There were significant differences between normal all treatment addition distance in dark conditions (p<0.05). Discussion showed that has effect. can improve quality increasing shortening Keywords Asiatica, zebrafish, frequency,

The water channel aquaporin-1a1 facilitates movement of CO₂ and ammonia in zebrafish (Danio rerio) larvae.

The present study tested the hypothesis that zebrafish (Danio rerio) aquaporin-1a1 (AQP1a1) serves as a multi-functional channel for the transfer of the small gaseous molecules, CO2 and ammonia, as well as water, across biological membranes. Zebrafish embryos were microinjected with a translation-blocking morpholino oligonucleotide targeted to AQP1a1. Knockdown of AQP1a1 significantly reduced r...

Ammonia excretion by the skin of zebrafish (Danio rerio) larvae.

The mechanism of ammonia excretion in freshwater teleosts is not well understood. In this study, scanning ion-selective electrode technique was applied to measure H(+) and NH(4)(+) fluxes in specific cells on the skin of zebrafish larvae. NH(4)(+) extrusion was relatively high in H(+) pump-rich cells, which were identified as the H(+)-secreting ionocyte in zebrafish. Minor NH(4)(+) extrusion wa...

Effect of silymarin on curcumin-induced mortality in zebrafish (Danio rerio) embryos and larvae.

In presence of 7.5 microM of curcumin, no embryos or larva of zebrafish survived 3 days of incubation; however, coincubation with 144 microg/ml silymarin increased the survival rates of curcumin-treated embryos and larvae to about 70%. Moreover, in presence of 12.5 microM curcumin, all embryos died after 2 days of incubation; however, co-treatment with 144 microg/ml silymarin increased the surv...

Danio Rerio, the Zebrafish

The zebrafish has long been a favourite model for the study of vertebrate development. Here we provide an overview of the current state of knowledge and resources for the study of this fish, with comments on the future direction of zebrafish genomics from Professor Mark Fishman and Dr Stephen Wilson.
